Design draftThe sliding door lock set for locomotive doors in workshop containers is a locking system made entirely of stainless steel, specifically designed for doors that must comply with the regulatory requirement of two operating heights. These so-called locomotive doors must be operable both from the interior and from the outside at track level. For this reason, the system is equipped with two separate door latches. The construction therefore meets the functional and safety requirements placed on sliding doors in the railway engineering environment.
The set includes a sliding door lock with rod linkage (GSV No. 9036SZ) as well as a sliding door latch lock with rod linkage (GSV No. 9036SF). Both lock variants are designed for left-hand sliding doors and are matched to a backset of 55 mm and a center distance of 76 mm. These parameters enable precise and standards-compliant integration into door systems intended for Swiss profile cylinders. The lock bodies are equipped with lateral rod drivers that ensure direct force transmission to the vertically guided locking rod. This results in uniform locking along the height of the door, increasing operational safety and resistance to forced entry.
The version with a faceplate in the GSV design ensures a stable and precisely defined fit within the door leaf and reduces tolerances during installation. The full stainless-steel construction provides excellent corrosion resistance, even under conditions of persistent humidity, temperature fluctuations, or contamination, as commonly found in workshop containers. The material also ensures a long service life with minimal maintenance requirements.
For design reasons, the set is supplied without an operating rod to allow maximum flexibility when selecting or adapting to the respective door dimensions. When installed, both lock components work together precisely, delivering smooth, low-noise, low-friction, and consistently reliable locking performance. This makes the sliding door lock set ideal for new installations, refurbishments, or replacement of outdated locking systems—particularly where high mechanical durability and standards-compliant operation at two heights are required.

The hand of door for mortise locks is defined as:
if the door is closed and the hinges are visible on the right/left, then the door is right/left hand. The door is therefore hinged on the right/left and according by definition of DIN right/left.
Or: if you grasp the handle with your right hand and latch and deadbolt show to the left, then it is right hand. If you grasp the handle with your left hand latch and deadbolt show to the right, it is a left hand.
Rim locks
The hand of door for rim locks is defined as:
if the door is closed and the hinges are visible on the right/left, then the door is right /left hand. The door is therefore hinged on the right/left and according to the definition DIN “right/left".
In addition to the designation “left” and “right”, it is to be indicated whether the locks are intended for inward or outward opening doors.
Sliding door mortises
The hand of door for sliding door mortises is the same for right and left. Sliding rim door locks different for left and right doors.
When ordering, always indicate “left” or “right”.

| Deadbolt
The deadbolt regulates the access rights through the turning motion of the cylinder by key. The deadbolt is being driven out or retracted through the turning motion. |

The faceplate is the visible part of the lock case. The faceplate, the latch and the deadbolt are the only visible parts of a mortise. |

Handle hub
The handle hub takes the square spindle of the handle in order to retract the latch inside the lock through the turning motion of the same. This process allows the opening of the door. The shipbuilding norm specifies a 9mm square with a 2° incline. Schwepper supplies also with 8mm square, special contour or 0° incline on request. |

WC-/privacy hub
The WC hub takes the square spindle of the olive or thumb turn, that retracts or drives out the deadbolt from the inside - analogue to the turning motion of the cylinder. The shipbuilding norm specifies a 7mm square. Schwepper supplies also with 8mm square on request. |
